Rain and snow will continue across New Mexico tonight. The state is expected to dry out tomorrow afternoon.
The low pressure system continues to make its way towards New Mexico today. The moisture ahead of the low is causing widespread rain across southern and eastern New Mexico. The rain is stretching as far north as the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The heaviest rainfall is currently in the southwest and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
The low is also brining snowfall to higher elevations. The snowfall is expected to increase across the Gila National Forest and the Northern Mountains as temperatures drop below freezing. Upwards of 6″ is expected for elevations above 8000′ feet. 8″ is possible for elevations above 9000′. Due to this snowfall, the national weather service has issued winter weather advisories for portions of the Sacramento Mountains and the Gila National Forest.
