When Jared Clark came to Notre Dame from Sarasota, Florida in 2000, the quarterback had visions of slinging passes in Notre Dame Stadium.
Following two game appearances in two years, and a change to tight end in the spring of 2002, Clark finally found a role as a contributor, appearing in 25 games in the 2002-03 seasons. He stayed around the game after graduation, with roles as an assistant coach at his alma mater Cardinal Mooney and an analyst position at USF occupying the time that wasn’t spent fighting fires or in the classroom.
Then, in 2020, Clark was named head football coach at Cardinal Mooney, where he has remained since, guiding the Cougars to a 1S state title in 2023 and a 2A semifinal bid this past fall. This most recent campaign, a 12-1 effort, was made possible by an offense averaging 45 points per game and a savage front seven, led by All-American junior Elijah Golden.
