ALBANY — A 42-year-old Albany man has been charged with possessing dozens of ghost guns and using 3D printers to manufacture them, allegedly creating hundreds of 3D-printed parts.
State Police said they found miscellaneous gun parts and manufacturing devices as well as computers, documents and other electronics Demetrio Daga used to make firearms during a search of two homes Wednesday in Albany. It is not clear if either home was Daga’s own residence. Police found 13 handguns and 22 assault rifles — all privately made — according to a news release Thursday . The searches follow a yearlong investigation into the gun-manufacturing case, police said.
More than 200 3D-printed lower handgun receivers and rifle frames were found alongside multiple 3D printers — one of which was actively printing a lower receiver, police said. Another 18 serialized assault rifles (not ghost guns), two pump-action shotguns, body armor, high-capacity magazines and thousands of rounds of ammunition were also allegedly found.
