Teen charged with felonies following brief pursuit ending with patrol car collision

Watervliet, NY (WRGB) — A 15-year-old was arrested in the early morning hours of Wednesday following a traffic stop that led to a brief pursuit that ended when the driver collided with a patrol car.

Wednesday just before 2:00 a.m., Watervliet police officers attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on the Congress Street Bridge, but the operator reportedly fled over the bridge at a high rate of speed and returned to the City of Watervliet before stopping near19th Street and 6th Avenue.

The vehicle then reversed, nearly striking a marked Watervliet Police vehicle and then continued on to strike a marked Watervliet Police vehicle that had its emergency lights and sirens activated, before fleeing on foot. The passenger was quickly apprehended and reportedly found to be in possession of an illegally modified semi-automatic handgun equipped with a “Glock Switch,” along with a high-capacity ammunition feeding device…
