More than 400 in Missouri Just Learned They’re Jobless in 2 Weeks

Let’s hope this isn’t a sign of how 2025 will go. More than 400 in Missouri just learned they will be without a job in just two weeks based on documents submitted to the state.

In what is the largest job layoff so far in 2025, the Missouri Jobs Site shows that 406 were informed just days ago that they will be laid off effective February 2, 2025 according to the WARN notice submitted to the state of Missouri. It says that Jack Cooper, which delivers vehicles for the automotive industry, is laying off more than 400 workers in the Kansas City, Missouri area.

Why did Jack Cooper in Kansas City just layoff 406?

KSHB is reporting that the company just lost a contract delivering Ford vehicles at several different locations and that is what caused the layoffs. The Detroit Free Press confirms this contract ending and says that Jack Cooper employees in Michigan will also be affected. Freight Waves says this contract had been in place for 40 years before being terminated recently. This caused what the company referred to as “an operational emergency”…
