Cards’ chances to end 0-8 streak vs. Clemson don’t look quite as good as they once did

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (KT) — When Clemson was dominated on both sides of the ball in an embarrassing season-opening 34-3 beating by then-No. 2 Georgia, you could almost hear the clapping and sighs of relief from its ACC rivals. The Tigers had ruled over the league for a decade under coach Dabo Swinney, winning six consecutive championships from 2015 through 2022 while compiling a 90-20 overall record.

Considering Pitt’s title in 2021 and Florida State’s last year, sandwiched around a Clemson crown, this was another sign that the Tigers’ falloff in ’21 and ’23 was more a trend than an aberration, And the picture looked especially encouraging for Louisville. With U of L expecting one of its best teams and Clemson not looking as powerful as usual, this could be the year the Cards finally end their frustration against the Tigers.

However, as Lee Corso would say, “Not so fast my friend.”…
