Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack introduced a new position to Alabama’s defense in 2024: the WOLF position. This is a variation of outside linebackers in which the EDGE player can pass rush, play the run, and drop back into coverage. It was a fundamental shift from Nick Saban’s defensive style.
One player who had a future in that position, EDGE Jeremiah Alexander, chose to enter the transfer portal, and on Wednesday, he committed to playing for Dabo Swinney and Clemson.
The former five-star recruit from the 2022 class played sparingly at Alabama, totaling just eight tackles over three seasons. Coming out of high school, Alexander was ranked as the No. 18 player in his class, the No. 1 EDGE and the No. 1 player in Alabama according to The 247Sports Composite.
