Apart from the bad news created by Helene, the dockworkers’ strike, shortages, and price increases there is good out there, according to the mayor of the Pickens County town of Six Mile. Mayor James Atkinson is out with a list of some things that lend themselves to the goodness in people’s souls in trying times. For example: The wife of a Six Mile volunteer fire fighter reported her husband working through the night with a chainsaw to remove road debris. The fire fighter’s dedication meant that he did not sleep or see his family 48 hours straight. Six Mile Elementary School sponsored a picnic at Ponderosa Park.
