A new feature of SEC football in 2024 is the introduction of player availability reports for conference games, and Tennessee football finally took part in the new protocol on Wednesday night with its initial injury update for Saturday’s league opener at Oklahoma. After 3-0 starts against non-conference opposition, the sixth-ranked Vols and 15th-ranked Sooners square off in Norman in the first-ever SEC game for Oklahoma, which joined Texas in coming to the SEC from the Big 12 earlier this year. Tennessee is relatively healthy heading into the game with just seven players on the first availability report of the week.

Under the new reporting rules, teams will release an initial availability report on Wednesday night (8:15 p.m.) with updates being released on Thursday and Friday night and a final game-day report posted 90 minutes before kickoff.

Players will be listed as out, doubtful, questionable or probable in the days leading up to the game, and pregame updates can list players as available or game-time decisions…
