KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Amid the devastation of Hurricane Helene, many people have taken it upon themselves to organize and deliver aid to East Tennessee and western North Carolina . A fundraiser launched by Tennessee football ’s Dayne Davis has raised over $8,000.
“I am launching a GoFundMe to hopefully assist in relief efforts in the counties of Unicoi, Carter, Washington, and Greene,” the senior offensive lineman wrote in the fundraiser’s description . “I will use these donations to personally purchase items for those in need and deliver items to churches and other disaster relief donation sites such as Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee.”

The senior offensive lineman is from Bluff City and graduated from Sullivan East High School. He personally delivered supplies on Sunday to those affected.
“There’s a lot of people up there that need help. It’s just very sad to see what’s come to the region,” Davis said Monday. “So just trying to use my platform to help those people back home. If there’s people out there who are able to donate, there’s people out there who really need it.”
