Public Input Encouraged, Even As Marina/Waterfront Master Plan Gets Unanimous Thumbs-Up In Committee

A master plan for how Sheboygan’s Waterfront and Marina will look and operate will go to a final vote on Monday, with public input still being accepted even after receiving unanimous approval in committee.  The Committee of the Whole is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Monday, followed by the regular Common Council meeting.  And although neither agenda has yet been posted, The Committee of the Whole meets to discuss and deliberate items of general interest, and its recommendations are then reported to the Council.

The final Waterfront and Marina Master Plan, presented in its final form last week Monday to the Common Council, is nearing the end of a two-week public input period through an online survey that closes on Sunday.  On Wednesday, the Public Works Committee gave unanimous recommendation that the Council approve, and questions have arisen among the public as to whether the plan isn’t already a “done deal” given its favorable reception at City Hall, and questioning if public input still counts.

For the City’s part, posts on its facebook page are encouraging residents to speak through that online survey, asserting that with: “Only 4 days left!”…“Your feedback is essential to making this area even better for residents and visitors alike.”  We’re inserting links to the plan and the survey into this story on our website so you can chime in…
