Lincoln County urges rabies vaccinations after positive case

LINCOLNTON, N.C. — Experts are warning residents to vaccinate their pets after confirming Lincoln County’s first rabies case of 2025.

A racoon was killed by a dog owner after having a fight with two dogs on Philadelphia Church Road in Lincolnton, the Lincoln County Animal Services said. The raccoon was sent to a state lab, where it was found to be positive with rabies this week.
