Mall youth movement? Some say a rise in Gen Z shoppers offers a glimmer of hope

GASTONIA, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Many of us remember when shopping malls used to be crowded by young people. Those days are long gone, but there could be signs that Gen Z customers are on the rise, choosing the mall over online options.

At places like Eastridge Mall in Gastonia, Gen Z-ers sound a lot more like their grandparents these days.

Yolonda Shufford of Lincolnton says it’s a practical matter.

“So, it’s better for you, if you want to come in person, so that you can actually try the clothes on, try the shoes on, to make sure that they fit,” Shufford told Queen City News…
