Man accused of ramming car into Gaston County deputy’s cruiser arrested days later in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man who reportedly rammed his car into patrol vehicles driven by a Gaston County Police deputy was arrested days later in a Charlotte hotel.

The department said deputies tried to arrest 30-year-old Johntavius Jaquine Ellington, who is from Charlotte, when he was spotted in the parking lot of the Walmart in Belmont on Jan. 16. He was wanted at the time for several felonies tied to drug trafficking.

However, Gaston County Police said when deputies tried to arrest him then, he immediately begin driving away, slamming his car against others in his way — including a police vehicle with blue lights on…
