Photos: 2 homes on North Carolina’s Outer Banks collapse within 24 hours

RODANTHE, N.C. (WNCN) – Water officials are urging people to stay away from the ocean near the North Carolina coast after an onslaught of storms has caused a pair of homes to collapse over 24 hours in the Outer Banks.

According to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the National Park Service received a dispatch call at around 9:18 p.m. Friday from Dare County regarding a house collapse at 23009 G A Kohler Court in Rodanthe.

Law enforcement rangers arrived on scene and confirmed the unoccupied, one-story house had “collapsed and apparently washed out into the ocean before the bulk of it returned to the beach,” Seashore officials said.

This was the same residence that sustained damages as a result of a house collapse that occurred earlier in the day at 23001 G A Kohler Court…
