A 18-year-old man was arrested Monday and charged with carjacking a vehicle in the parking lot of an Aldi supermarket in Lumberton nearly two months ago, authorities said.
As a shopper loaded groceries into an SUV outside the store on Route 38 on Nov. 18, Joao Castro approached with a knife and demanded the keys to the SUV, Lumberton police said.
When the customer refused to hand over the keys, Castro ran to the passenger side of the SUV, entered and slid into the driver’s sear, officials said. Castro then pressed the button to start the vehicle and drove away, according to police. The victim was not hurt…
