The Ventura Pier reopened on Thursday and surfers, fishermen and beachgoers were on hand to enjoy it.
The pier had been closed since Sunday morning as high surf posed a threat to the historic wooden structure . Waves had been forecast to reach 15 to 18 feet at times on Monday at Tuesday. The closure lasted through Wednesday, Christmas Day.
A high surf advisory remained in place for Ventura County beaches from Thursday afternoon through 9 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
