Lawton-Bronson seeks school expansion in $16.9M bond issue

LAWTON, Iowa — Backers of the Lawton-Bronson Community School District’s $16.9 million school bond issue have spent a year fine-tuning a previous bond issue proposal and informing voters of the reasons behind adding an auditorium and second gymnasium at the junior-senior high school in Lawton.

The district hopes that re-evaluation of the district’s building needs and extended information campaign will gain the 60% voter approval needed to pass in the Nov. 5 election.

The measure includes construction of a new gym with locker rooms and offices, an auditorium with storage space, a new wrestling room, addition of at least 29 parking spaces and renovation of the current wrestling room into two classrooms…
