A lot of people experience a letdown after the Christmas and New Year’s holidays are over. Those people are not in Louisiana. Here in The Boot, we are gearing up for Mardi Gras Parades in New Orleans and Lafayette. There will be Valentine’s Day celebrations in Baton Rouge and Bossier City. And in communities large and small across Louisiana we are all preparing for one of the tastiest times of the year, Girl Scout Cookie time.
If ever there was an iconic cookie in Louisiana and the rest of the country it would probably be sold by a girl wearing green. We all have our favorite Girl Scout Cookies, don’t we? The answer I hear to that question most often is Thin Mints but despite what you misguided lovers of those cookies believe, Louisiana has another favorite when it comes to cookies that the Girl Scouts sell.
Among the cookies your neighborhood Girl Scouts will be offering during cookie sales this year are the aforementioned Thin Mints and Louisiana’s favorite the Samoas/Caramel DeLites there will be Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs and more. But two iconic cookies from the list of those being offered will only be available this year.
