New Program Aims to Increase Homeownership Among City’s Cultural Artists

The New Orleans Tourism and Cultural Fund (NOTCF), in partnership with the City of New Orleans’ Office of Housing Policy and Community Development (OCD) and the Office of Cultural Economy, recently announced a program designed to make homeownership a reality for the city’s cultural artists. This initiative offers cultural bearers access to soft seconds funding, bridging the gap between dreams and reality for those who enrich New Orleans’ vibrant cultural fabric.

Eligible participants must meet specific qualifications, including completing an approved homebuyer training program, securing mortgage approval through an approved lender, and meeting income requirements (income cannot exceed 80 percent of the area median income; for a one-person household, this is $48,650). Participants will receive vital resources, including homebuyer education, to equip them for long-term success as homeowners.
