Athens-Clarke County’s Acting Manager Niki Jones, is heading back to Raleigh, NC, this time as the new Assistant City Manager. Jones, who previously worked in Raleigh’s Housing and Neighborhoods Department, is slated to leave his Athens post on January 17, 2025, according to a recent announcement from Athens-Clarke County.

In his brief tenure as Athens-Clarke County’s Acting Manager, Jones, who stepped into the role in July 2024 after the resignation of former Manager Blaine Williams, has made a noticeable mark. “Athens-Clarke County is a unique, fantastic community that my family and I will greatly miss,” Jones said, expressing gratitude for the opportunities and the local government staff he worked alongside, as reported by Athens-Clarke County.
