NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Mayor Eric Adams gave a key to the city on Monday to legendary weatherman Al Roker on his 70th birthday.
Roker, known for nearly 30 years on NBC’s “TODAY,” has informed millions on weather, breaking news, trends, and major events like the Olympics and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
“I never imagined a kid from Queens would be receiving a Key to the City of New York,” Roker, who is married to ABC News “20/20” co-anchor Deborah Roberts, said in a statement. “This is really special. I love this city and grew up here with my dad working as a New York City bus driver in Brooklyn. I’m so very blessed and lucky.”
Roker, born and raised in Queens, began his career as a weather anchor in Syracuse before joining NBC’s “TODAY,” where he’s worked for nearly 30 years.
