Staten Island Black Heritage presents ‘We are Family Festival’ in Tappen Park on Sept. 21

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — For the third consecutive year, Staten Island Black Heritage, in collaboration with NYC Open Streets, will host the “We Are Family Festival” in Tappen Park, Stapleton, on Saturday, Sept. 21. Sponsored by the Van Duzer Civic Association, the event will run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine.

It is part of a full slate of “Family Day” events that are organized by Staten Island Black Heritage, including the group’s annual parade, now in its 13th year.

Since 2022, Staten Island Black Heritage and the NYC Open Streets Program — a city program sponsored in Stapleton by Peter Lisi of the Van Duzer Civic Association — have teamed up to use Water Street for the festival event…
