SOUTH BEND — South Bend Police officer David Finn was charged by the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s office Monday with a criminal misdemeanor of domestic battery.
The prosecution argued that 35-year-old Finn is not eligible for pretrial release because he was found guilty on Nov. 14 of animal cruelty for kicking a dog belonging to his daughter’s mother and throwing it out of his truck when picking up his daughter from her mother’s Mishawaka home, court documents described the incident. Finn was put on restrictive duty by the South Bend Police Department during the investigation concerning the Oct. 8, 2023 animal cruelty charge.
On Nov. 17, Finn was arrested by two responding South Bend Police officers and booked into the St. Joseph County Jail on Monday after allegedly pushing his girlfriend to the ground in a “rough and aggressive manner,” a fellow officer acting as a witness told other responding officers, according to prosecutors…
