For better or worse, Notre Dame’s 2024 season relies heavily on what Riley Leonard can do. Already with one second-quarter touchdown against Georgia Tech in the books, Leonard got a shot at his second after the Irish’s defense forced a three-and-out.
Unlike the Irish’s previous offensive drive, this one relied more on the pass, and it was very successful. After the ball got to the Georgia Tech 12-yard line, Leonard chose to take the ball for himself out of the two-minute timeout. This proved to be the right call as he found daylight and scored a touchdown to give the Irish their first lead of the game, 14-7:
Again, you might not like how Leonard plays quarterback. You might say he’s better suited as a running back. The important thing right now though is for the Irish to win games, and he’s playing his part. They aren’t in the position they’re in right now without him whether you like it or not. The Irish sure like it at least…
