Report: Upstate couple’s home broken into after evacuating after Helene

DUNCAN, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said a family’s home was broken into after they evacuated for Hurricane Helene.

According to a report, deputies were called out to Buckingham Road in Duncan on Monday in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, the homeowner told deputies that he and his wife left their new home to stay with family after a tree fell on it when Helene hit the area. Days later, he received a call from his neighbor saying his front door was left open so the neighbor pulled it shut.

The homeowner told deputies he went back to the home on Monday and noticed the back door was open. Once inside, he noticed drawers and cabinets were rummaged through, all of his wife’s clothes were taken, the comforter from their bed was missing and a PlayStation four was missing…
