Gaffney, SC — Ronnie (Butch) Dale Hopper, 69, of 364 Buck Shoals Road, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 15, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Spartanburg, he was the husband of Rita Mayfield Hopper and the son of the late Jesse Thomas Hopper and Mary Frances Taber Hopper. He enjoyed NASCAR, especially Tony Stewart and was a former Dirt Track driver. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, working on cars and loved his furbabies, Rosie, Blaze and Smoke. He was a self-employed mechanic and coowner/ operator of Tricap Trucking Inc. and was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, also surviving is a son, Jason Osteen (Lisa) of Spindale; a special son, Jamaica Wood of Gaffney; a bonus son, Joe Mack Fowler (Tiffany) of Gaffney; a daughter, Rhonda Hopper Carswell (Albert) of Gaffney; a brother, Jackie Hopper (Carolyn) of Chesnee; a sister, Sandy Turner (Joe) of Gaffney; eleven grandchildren, Stacy Hopper (Charlie), Christina Ramsey (Ray), Megan Painter (Dustin), Michael Osteen, Matthew Osteen, Johnathan Osteen, Matthew Fowler, Josh Fowler, Joe Fowler Jr., Joshua Carswell (Destiny) and Haley Rowan (Matthew); a special grandson, Kaylan Dawkins; eleven great-grandchildren. Mr. Hopper was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie Hopper Jr. and Donnie Philbeck; a bonus son, Ben Fowler; a brother, Jesse Hopper; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Hopper…
