SPOKANE, Wash. — After the iconic 78-year-old willow tree at Finch Arboretum fell earlier this year, the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation conducted a survey to gather public input on its future.
Over 1,000 people responded, with 65% expressing support for a nature-based playground using willow wood components and planting replacement trees grown from cuttings of the original tree.
Students from Spokane Community College’s Greenhouse/Nursery program are already cultivating 100 trees from these cuttings, contributing to the tree’s legacy…
