Federal Civil Rights Complaint Filed Against Illinois Education Officials Over Title IX Violations

The Defense of Freedom Institute for Policy Studies (DFI) and the Liberty Justice Center (LJC) have filed a federal civil rights complaint against the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and Chicago Public Schools (CPS), alleging violations of Title IX.

The complaint, submitted to the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR), challenges policies that allow students to use bathrooms, locker rooms, and overnight accommodations based on self-declared gender identity rather than biological sex.

According to the complaint, ISBE and CPS enforce policies that require students to share intimate facilities with individuals of the opposite biological sex.
