Tempers boil over at Springfield City Council

SPRINGFIELD – Numerous people came to city hall with questions about the treatment of former Springfield Police officer Michael Egan.

Not only did those questions mostly go unanswered, but the people who asked those questions were treated with hostility by the mayor and the police. In a sign of the deteriorating relationship between the people of the city and Mayor Misty Busher, the residents at city hall reacted to this overt hostility with frustration and anger.

The first person to ask questions about the night of the accident was Ald. Jennifer Notariano. She first asked what the officers, who were recently disciplined, were punished for. Springfield Police Chief Ken Scarlette did not give a straightforward answer. She expressed concern over the time Egan was allowed to wander around, and over him being given water and chewing gum while waiting for a response…
