Gene Cassidy speaks on barn fire, Hooplandia on final Big E weekend

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Western Mass News spoke with president and CEO of the Eastern States Exposition, Gene Cassidy on Friday.

While there’s plenty to look ahead to this weekend, we also asked for a status update following the fire at one of the barns last week, which resulted in injuries to some of the more than 150 horses that were released from their stables.

“As I understand from the veterinarians, the horse that was most injured required some stitches on his chest, I think up to 50, and while that is certainly substantial, if you’re the mother of a child that gets hurt or the owner of a horse that’s hurt it’s very serious, but the vets explained it was a minor injury,” Cassidy said…
