More than 250 people crammed into the first floor of the seven-story building on Caroline Street in downtown Fredericksburg Friday to celebrate the official opening of the new Fredericksburg Visitor Center.
The city moved its Visitor Center from its longtime residence at 706 Caroline St. in November but had its grand opening Friday. Numerous dignitaries, including State Sen. Tara Durant, Del. Joshua Cole, the entire City Council and other city department heads, staff members and citizens showed up to commemorate the new digs at 601 Caroline. The transformation of the first floor seemed to impress everyone on hand.
Mayor Kerry Devine said the five-year effort to relocate the center involved numerous people and is something the entire city can be proud of. “They really knocked it out of the park,” Devine said…
