Fredericksburg SPCA hopes to ‘Empty the Shelters’

The Fredericksburg SPCA will participate with more than 400 shelters in 45 states in Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters event, which aims to bring holiday hope by reducing pet adoption pees.

The program is in effect through Dec. 17 at the facility at 10819 Courthouse Road in Spotsylvania County and applies to dogs and cats seven months and older. With sponsorship from Bissell, shelters are able to offer the adoptions for $25.

“It has been an incredibly challenging year for saving lives, as our nation’s shelters continue to take in more pets than they are adopting out. Tens of thousands of shelter pets — of all breeds, ages, and personalities — are desperately in need of homes,” said Cathy Bissell, founder of the pet foundation…
