Recently, leaders from Prince William County gathered to break ground on the improvements being made to two of the soccer fields at George Hellwig Memorial Park—field 8 and field 3. The improvements will consist of upgrading the synthetic turf at field 8, and the conversion of field 3 from grass to synthetic turf. The improvements for field 3 also include the installation of a large underground stormwater management system to meet Prince William County and DEQ stormwater standards as well as new field perimeter concrete walkways, fencing, goals, and behind-goal netting.
“As a coach who has spent countless hours on these fields, I’m so excited to support the turf improvements here at Hellwig,” said Coles District Supervisor Yesli Vega. “These upgrades not only enhance the experience for our local athletes of all ages, but strengthen Prince William County’s commitment to health, wellness, and community. I also want to express my gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this project. Together we will continue to make Prince William County a place we are proud to call home.”…
