Warnings for heavy snow & extreme cold Northeast & Mid Atlantic as storm moves northward

Winter Storm Warnings are posted today from Virginia to New England with Winter Weather Advisories surrounding the warning areas including much of Coastal New Jersey, Long Island & Southeastern New England. Our storm system gets underway today as low pressure n North Carolina takes a track to the northeast. The center passes offshore but colder air will be drawn southward as the day wears on.

Snow accumulations in general will be in a range of 4 to 6 or 7 inches in most places. Snow amounts will be a bit less along Coastal New Jersey and over Eastern Long Island. The fast movement of this storm system keeps this from getting too out of hand and while there might be a little upside possible, it won’t have time to amount to much. Look for radars to load up later today with the bulk of this event during the afternoon and evening from southwest to northeast.
