Workers continue to clear area roads after winter storm

Crews continue clearing remnants on area roads from this week’s winter storm that dropped a heavy mixture of snow and ice, the Virginia Department of Transportation said Wednesday.

“Conditions on low-volume secondary roads and subdivision streets currently vary widely in the Fredericksburg area, between minor condition (isolated patches of snow and ice) and severe (fully covered by snow),” VDOT said.

As of late Wednesday afternoon, VDOT said crews were focused on plowing nearly 2,000 miles of secondary roads (routes 600 and up) and subdivision streets in the counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania and Caroline…
