Jackson Merrill blasts walk-off home run to complete comeback against Mets

The Padres came from behind to beat the Mets 3-2, thanks to some late game heroics from Jurickson Profar and Jackson Merrill. The Padres trailed 2-0 after J.D. Martinez and Mark Vientos had hit solo home runs off of Martin Perez and Jason Adam. With the Padres trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the 8th inning, Profar belted a 2-run home run to tie the game. After Robert Suarez pitched a 1-2-3 in the top of the 9th, Jackson Merrill blasted a no-doubter to walk it off in the bottom of the 9th. The win was needed as the Padres were on the verge of dropping 3 of 4 to a team they are competing with for a wild card spot, but instead, the Padres will be thrilled with a 2-2 split. The Padres now hit the road and face the Cardinals in St. Louis beginning on Monday.
