2024 Year in Review: Facilities, affordable housing, first PSB signs among Davidson highlights

DAVIDSON – The completion of a municipal building makeover and the implementation of multiple programs and policies were among the highlights of 2024 in Davidson, along with signs of construction near the town’s southern border including the creation of a travel route through town, a substantial church-centered development and a sizable apartment complex.

Facilities

While town administrative operations were settled into the new Town Hall & Community Center at 251 South St. in 2023, the second phase of the project – the transformation of the former town hall on Main Street into the Russell B. Knox Building and Public Safety headquarters – was completed early in 2024.

Additions and renovations created a long-term headquarters for the Davidson Police Department and included upgrades for fire operations on the lower floor. The town’s next major public safety project will be the construction of a new Fire Station #1 at the corner of Griffin and Watson streets, which will allow police operations to occupy the entire Public Safety building…
