An officer-involved shooting during a routine traffic stop has left one person hospitalized in Kannapolis. The incident occurred yesterday night, around 10:30 p.m. on North Cannon Boulevard. Kannapolis Police Department officers stopped a vehicle when they suspected that an occupant might be wanted on outstanding warrants, as reported by WBTV.
During the traffic stop, conducted near the Shoe Show store at 251 North Cannon Blvd, a person in the vehicle was shot. The specifics of the encounter that led to the shooting have not been disclosed by authorities yet. The wounded individual was then taken to the hospital, while remaining fortunate to escape without injuries were other car occupants and the police officers involved. According to a statement acquired by WCNC, the patient is currently receiving care at Atrium Hospital – Cabarrus.
