North Carolina Winter Storm Watch: Up to 7 Inches of Snow Expected by Monday Morning

Greenville, SC – A winter storm watch has been issued for Haywood, Madison, Mitchell, and Yancey counties, beginning Sunday morning. The National Weather Service forecasts 1–3 inches of snow for most areas, with higher elevations receiving 4–6 inches by Monday morning. Gusts may reach 45 mph, creating hazardous conditions.

The storm will also affect Swain and Graham counties, where snow accumulation could reach 7 inches above 3,500 feet. Roads may become impassable, with widespread power outages possible due to snow-laden branches.

The weather service urges residents to prepare for dangerous travel, especially during Monday morning’s commute. Strong winds could exacerbate the situation by toppling trees and power lines. Officials recommend staying updated through NOAA Weather Radio and securing essential supplies.
