Three Arrested, Charged in Murder of Teen Edwin Morales in Lincolnton, One Suspect Pending Extradition

Three suspects are now facing charges in the murder of 16-year-old Edwin Morales, whose body was discovered on the side of Whitehouse Road in Lincolnton. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspects as 35-year-old Larue Dean Lipscomb, Jr., 20-year-old Michael Dujuan Byrd, and 17-year-old Isaiah Dashawn Lipscomb, who is being charged as an adult, WBTV reports.

According to information released by law enforcement authorities, last Sunday, Morales was abducted from outside his home, robbed, and eventually shot. His body was found by a passerby on a road not frequently traveled by the public. Each suspect has been charged with one felony count of first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and kidnapping. As ongoing investigations continue, police arrested Larue Dean Lipscomb, Jr., the oldest suspect on Friday night, QC News details.

Larue is detained at the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center, while Michael Dujuan Byrd is held without bond in the Lincoln County Jail. Isaiah, the youngest of the trio, waits in the York County Detention Center for extradition to Lincoln County, WCNC reported.
