CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – A former Lowcountry CEO is facing up to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines after entering into a guilty plea agreement for the federal felony charge of ‘Conspiracy to Commit Honest Services Fraud’.
The U.S. Department of Justice filed charges and a plea agreement regarding Jeffrey McWhorter in Nov. of 2024.
McWhorter pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud a company based in Texas. Prosecutors in court say the scheme led to wiring $400,000 out of the company, and McWhorter pocketed $90,000. The documents say the scheme took place from 2019 to 2020…
