The system has been designated as Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine by the National Hurricane Center. It will likely strengthen into Tropical Storm Helene as early as Tuesday morning. It is then forecast to become a Hurricane on Wednesday and will likely make landfall over the Big Bend of Florida as a Category Two Hurricane on Thursday. Following a landfall along the Gulf coast, impacts are possible here in the Lowcountry, including rain, wind, tornadoes and coastal impacts. The exact impacts will be determined by the track of the storm. There is still lots of uncertainty with the evolution and track of this storm. We have declared a First Alert Weather Day for Thursday and Friday due to potential impacts from this system.

In the meantime, we expect very warm and mainly dry weather for the first half of the first full week of Fall. Under lots of sunshine, we expect plenty of sunshine and hot temperatures this afternoon with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s. We stay near 90 on Tuesday with a few clouds.

TODAY: Mostly Sunny. High 91, Low 72…
