Breakdown: Lowest performing schools in the Lowcountry

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Many schools in the Lowcountry were rated “Excellent” or “Good” in the 2023-2024 S.C. annual report card, but schools labeled as “Below Average” or “Unsatisfactory” still remain in our region.

When a school ranks “Below Average” or “Unsatisfactory”, it means the school’s performance either is in jeopardy or fails to meet the criteria to ensure all students meet the Profile of the SC Graduate, required by the State Board of Education.

Statewide when looking at the report, the total number of “Unsatisfactory” schools went from 60 in the 2022-2023 school year to 47 in 2023-2024…
