Gunn High School stages ‘You Can’t Take It With You’

Bringing home a romantic partner to “meet the parents” can be a fraught situation, and Alice Sycamore has especially good reason to fear that her family isn’t going to be fast friends with the Kirbys, the rich and haughty parents of her fiancé. Her dad manufactures fireworks in the basement, her mom writes somewhat smutty plays and her graceless sister pretends to be a ballerina, pirouetting around the house — and that’s just for starters.

Gunn High School Theatre stages the classic, Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart about how Alice’s eccentric family struggles and hilariously fail to hide their peculiarities when the snooty Kirbys come to dinner at their home.
