Woman who allegedly stole from victim in hit-and-run arrested following chase

( KRON ) — A woman involved in a hit-and-run who allegedly stole from the victim was arrested following a pursuit, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said. On Wednesday, at approximately 7:15 p.m., SMCSO deputies responded to the area of Highway 1 and Miramontes Point Road in Half Moon Bay.

Having received multiple reports of a reckless driver, investigating deputies learned the driver had been involved in a non-injury hit-and-run. The victim in that crash followed the driver to Highway 1 and Tunitas Creek Road, where the suspect, according to police, pulled over and confronted the victm.

During the confrontation, police said the suspect stole items from the victim by force before getting back into her vehicle and fleeing the scene. Deputies picked up the suspect driving south on Highway 1 near Pomponio State Beach and initiated a traffic stop.

The suspect failed to yield, police said, and a chase ensued. SMCSO deployed its airplane, Air 1, to monitor and assist. The pursuit led deputies into Santa Cruz County…
