ITHACA, N.Y. — The New York State Police at Ithaca arrested 38-year-old Ross Haley for the class “E” felony of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree on October 22.
Troopers say an investigation revealed that in 2022, Haley engaged in a conversation with a victim unknown to him by text. During the conversation, troopers say the victim believed he received sexually explicit photos of an adult. Haley then told the victim the photos were of a nude teenager and in order to avoid getting the police involved, the victim would have to send Haley money.
