Central Falls students shadow police, health professionals at Rhode Island Hospital

Central Fall high school students, with the Central Falls police, spent the day meeting and shadowing health professionals at Rhode Island Hospital on Thursday.

According to officials, Central Falls police organized the event in partnership with the Lawrence Aubin Child Protection Center to get high school students engaged and interested in both the police and medical fields.

The 25 high school students spent their whole school day at the hospital meeting with 19 health professionals, including brain surgeons and ER doctors.

“We were motivated to bring this opportunity to central falls community to really assure kids that they have an opportunity in healthcare and in law,” said Meg Fitzgerald, the manager of Advocacy and Prevention Program at the Lawrence Aubin Child Protection Center in Hasbro. “We have a lot of different representatives here from lot of different disciplines and so many of the representatives are sharing their own personal experiences of how they obtained their role.”…
