Northview ready for four-day stay at Wabash Valley Classic

As Northview boys basketball head coach Shawn Nevill watched the ping pong balls swirl around the raffle drum from his seat inside the First Financial Bank’s banquet hall in downtown Terre Haute on Dec. 2, he had a feeling the Wabash Valley Classic random draw would place the Knights in one of the early games.

The reason? In the six seasons Nevill’s led a team during the annual holiday tournament, he’s often opened it in the morning when the gym is still warming up and fans are finding their seats for the day.

That happened again as Northview drew Edgewood in the 11:30 a.m. game. It’ll serve as the first of what Nevill believes could potentially be three meetings between the conference rivals after they squared off twice during the 2023-24 season, the latter of which came in the sectional championship game…
