Goodbye Warm Winter Weather, Arctic Air Arrives Next

An early-week cold front is increasingly likely to usher in much colder, below-normal temperatures for most of next week. We just don’t know yet how much colder the arctic air will be.

After a very warm — and in some areas, record-breaking — start to the week, near or slightly below-normal temperatures are here to stay into the new year. Morning lows will dip into the 30s, with afternoon highs reaching the 50s. But starting next week, Arctic air will drop temperatures through North Texas.

“NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center is monitoring the potential for an Arctic outbreak in the first full week of 2025,” NWS Public Affairs Specialist Erica Grow Cei told Local Profile.
